Former Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao has refuted several assertions made in a report that he has been pursuing a federal pardon from US President Donald Trump.
In a post on X on March 13, following the publication of the article, Zhao stated that he had not engaged in any discussions regarding a business arrangement between the Trump family and Binance.US. He also dismissed claims suggesting he was seeking a presidential pardon from Trump, a move that could potentially enable him to take on an operational or management position at Binance.
“No felon would refuse a pardon, particularly when you consider I’m the only person in US history who has received a prison sentence for a single Bank Secrecy Act violation,” he remarked. “It feels like the article is aimed at undermining the President and the cryptocurrency sector, with lingering elements from the last administration’s ‘war on crypto’ still in play.”
