At least six members of Trump’s cabinet own Bitcoin investments, with a total value amounting to millions, based on the latest financial disclosures.
Out of the 22 cabinet members serving under President Donald Trump, a minimum of six are reported to have Bitcoin (BTC) holdings, either through personal crypto wallets or via investment channels like crypto-backed exchange-traded funds. This information has been gathered from the financial disclosures of public officials dated December 2024 and January 2025, which are accessible to the public.
According to his financial disclosure, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. possesses a Bitcoin Fidelity account valued between $1 million and $5 million. Additionally, Russell Vought, the Office of Management and Budget Director, has disclosed holding BTC in his personal Coinbase wallet, estimated to be worth between $1,001 and $15,000, and has committed to divesting from these assets.
Similarly, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent revealed his investment in the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF, which he estimates is worth between $250,001 and $500,000. In line with his ethics agreement, Bessent stated he plans to divest within 90 days following his confirmation.
Previously, Trump has claimed that several federal officials are among the largest Bitcoin holders, expressing his ambition to position America as the “Bitcoin superpower of the world.”
As of now, Bitcoin has risen by more than 1% over the past 24 hours and is currently valued at $83,332. However, it has seen a decline of over 9% in the last week, according to available crypto data.
Other cabinet members with investments in Bitcoin or Bitcoin-related assets include Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who reportedly has a Bitwise Bitcoin ETF Trust valued at $15,001 to $50,000. Gabbard also holds Bitcoin directly, estimated to be worth the same amount, and has pledged to divest from her holdings as well.
Additionally, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has investments in Bitcoin totaling between $250,001 and $500,000. His portfolio includes a Gemini wallet containing Bitcoin valued in the same range and a Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund worth between $50,001 and $100,000. Finally, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth indicated in his December disclosure that he had Bitcoin investments valued at $15,001 to $50,000.
Earlier this month, AI and crypto advisor David Sacks mentioned that he had sold all of his cryptocurrency holdings before assuming his position. While the exact amount of his previous investments wasn’t disclosed, he noted they included Bitcoin, Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL). At the time, Sacks was reportedly undergoing a government ethics review.
