A blockchain investigator has identified the individual behind a range of high-risk trades on Hyperliquid, connecting the activities to a person in the UK with a record of financial misconduct.
On March 20, it was disclosed that this trader is purportedly William Parker, a UK national who has previously faced convictions for financial offenses in both Finland and the UK.
Parker drew significant attention in the market after engaging in aggressive leveraged trading on Hyperliquid from January to March. This well-known crypto trader asserted that these maneuvers had netted him nearly $20 million in profits.
Nonetheless, the investigator publicly accused Parker—using the handle @qwatio and also known as MELANIA—of being involved in cybercriminal conduct. The following day, Parker took to X to deny the allegations, arguing against claims that his trading was financed by stolen funds.
Parker stated:
“[The investigator] is mistaken here. I’d be open to donating, but by his reasoning, he would be labeled a scammer if we did. The real issue here is the potential to taint an address through dusting.”
Tracing the digital footprint
The investigator’s thorough analysis on social media mapped Parker’s blockchain activities across major platforms like Binance, Roobet, and Alphapo.
The findings raised suspicions that Parker’s X account might have been acquired, given the recent change of its name, its past inactivity, and its age.
Deeper investigation uncovered more connections to fraudulent schemes. One of the accounts Parker followed, CryptxxCatalyst, was associated with phishing scams.
Blockchain records suggested that in January 2025, he manipulated a casino game and targeted individuals victimized by phishing attacks.
A wallet connected to him received proceeds from these scams, including a $17,100 transaction. That same wallet was noted as a drainer fee recipient in another incident.
Parker’s gambling behavior offered additional leads. Withdrawals from four Solana-based casinos were linked back to his Telegram information, allowing the investigator to verify his identity.
Additionally, a recent transaction from wallet 0xe4d3 was tied to a UK phone number officially registered under William Parker.
Records indicate that Parker has a criminal history extending over ten years. In 2023, authorities in Finland convicted him of defrauding two casinos out of $1 million.
Prior to this, he was known as Alistair Packover before subsequently changing his name to William Peckover. In the early 2010s, he attracted media attention in the UK due to fraud charges related to hacking and gambling.
The investigator concluded:
“It is clear that WP/AP has not absorbed any lessons from his past experiences after serving time for fraud, and will likely persist in his gambling activities.”
As per data from Arkham Intelligence, a wallet linked to Parker currently holds more than $23 million in digital assets.
