Samuel Howe, the chief operating officer of Zodia Custody, has departed from the London firm to pursue a role in traditional finance, as confirmed by the company.
Howe held the position of COO for the last three months, according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to this role, he was the head of operations at the crypto custodian.
“Sam has decided to return to the traditional finance sector, indicating a trend of movement and skill exchange between the crypto and TradFi worlds,” said CEO Julian Sawyer in an email. “His successor will be Sam Hill, who has been with us for the past year and a half.”
Howe has not provided a comment before the publication deadline.
Previously, Howe was the head of crypto operations at GSA Capital, a hedge fund, and served as the head of capital markets operations at CoinShares, an asset manager.
He also had roles at major banking institutions like HSBC and Kleinwort Hambros before entering the crypto space.
In 2020, Howe co-founded a private crypto hedge fund, for which he continues to offer consultancy.
Zodia Custody has backing from prominent entities such as Standard Chartered Bank, SBI Group, Northern Trust, and National Australia Bank.
