Ben Armstrong, widely recognized as “BitBoy” within the cryptocurrency community, was apprehended on March 25, 2025, in Volusia County, Florida, for supposedly sending threatening emails to a judge.
As reported by the Volusia County Division of Corrections, Armstrong is designated as a fugitive and is being held without the option of bail.
Armstrong shared details of his legal issues on social media prior to his arrest. On March 21, he announced on X that warrants had been issued against him following his emails to Cobb County Superior Court Judge Kimberly Childs while he was self-representing in legal matters.
In his post, he described Judge Childs as “dishonorable” and alleged that she deleted her Twitter account after receiving his correspondence.
Previous Legal Issues
This is not the first legal trouble for Armstrong. In September 2023, he was arrested in Gwinnett County, Georgia, after live-streaming a confrontation outside the residence of a former business partner. He accused the individual of withholding his Lamborghini and subsequently faced charges of loitering, prowling, and simple assault.
His legal predicaments go beyond just arrests. In March 2023, he was involved in a class-action lawsuit that accused him of endorsing unregistered securities via Binance. This lawsuit, which demanded over $1 billion in damages, also included NBA superstar Jimmy Butler and fellow crypto figure Graham Stephan.
Once a leading figure in the crypto space, Armstrong amassed a significant following through his YouTube channel, BitBoy Crypto, where he provided news, insights, and analyses on investments. However, his reputation has suffered due to various controversies, including accusations of substance abuse and erratic conduct.
In August 2023, he was ousted from the BitBoy Crypto brand by its parent company, BJ Investment Holdings, amid concerns regarding his behavior.
Authorities have yet to reveal the specific nature of the emails Armstrong sent to Judge Childs.
