Animoca Brands has partnered with Soneium to create Anime ID, an innovative decentralized identity (DID) and reputation layer. This initiative will be led by San FranTokyo, a contributor to the Anime Foundation.
As stated in a recent announcement, Anime ID will be the first DID to utilize Account, Identity, and Reputation SDK technology on the Soneium blockchain. This will allow users to create integrated accounts, forge distinct identities, and manage their credentials while exploring various decentralized applications within the Soneium ecosystem.
Moca Network, the digital identity infrastructure from Animoca Brands, will facilitate Anime ID by integrating its AIR SDK into the Soneium blockchain.
In conjunction with this collaboration, San FranTokyo plans to initiate anime-themed campaigns on Soneium, designed to attract more anime enthusiasts to the web3 space and introduce novel anime-inspired experiences.
San FranTokyo is a community-driven cultural protocol established to cultivate an open ecosystem that champions global anime and manga culture. It actively collaborates with the Anime Foundation.
The official Anime ID website highlights that this initiative signifies a groundbreaking approach to fandom, loyalty, and reputation within anime culture. Participants can engage in anime culture, gain recognition, and unlock various perks within the Anime Foundation community.
Jun Watanabe, Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs at Soneium, remarked that the anime fan community presents significant market opportunities for the blockchain, as it ranks among the largest entertainment sectors today.
“By integrating Moca Network’s AIR SDK and Anime ID into Soneium, along with launching anime-themed cultural initiatives from Animoca Brands, we aim to welcome anime fans globally into the blockchain, enabling them to collaborate, create, and bring emotion to life,” said Watanabe.
Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, expressed that this collaboration with Soneium marks a pivotal advancement toward fostering web3 adoption in the near future.
“We are not just enhancing entertainment experiences; we are constructing a cohesive digital ecosystem. This partnership will equip Soneium users with unified digital identities, linking anime, gaming, and blockchain technologies,” stated Siu.
This isn’t Soneium’s first venture into anime collaborations. Recently, they joined forces with another organization to unveil an NFT collection showcasing a memorable moment from the anime film “The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light,” which can currently be streamed on Netflix.
