A former executive of the Web3 game Blade of God X (BOGX) has accused the project of abandoning its blockchain roadmap after securing funding from the cryptocurrency community.
On April 1, the ex-CMO, Amber Bella, expressed in an X post that despite receiving support from Web3 entities, the game has “completely abandoned” its Web3 objectives and the team that was dedicated to its Web3 aspects.
“Web3 was entirely left behind, and my Web3 team went from delayed salary payments to receiving nothing at all,” Bella stated.
She also mentioned that instead of providing compensation to users and refunding those who bought non-fungible tokens (NFTs), the game’s founder, Tnise Liu Yang, chose to block her from all means of personal communication.
In her thread on X, Bella indicated that she tried to persuade Yang to appropriately liquidate the game’s Web3 assets, but all communications were cut off. Bella recounted:
“When I asked Tnise to refund all sold NFTs and address the Web3 community properly, including returning in-game purchases made by Web3 users during the third test, I found I had been blocked from all personal communication channels without prior notice.”
This occurred as she suggested they responsibly “settle the Web3 side” if they intended to transition the game into a fully Web2 initiative.
Additionally, Bella accused the Web2 team of claiming prizes meant for players. She noted that while the Web3 team was focused on enhancing player benefits, they discovered that the Web2 team was utilizing their own accounts to claim cash prizes that should have been allocated to players.
“They kept this hidden from the Web3 team entirely and initially denied it when confronted. Only when we presented evidence linking the accounts to their own wallets did they finally remove those accounts,” Bella commented.
Attempts to reach Blade of God X for comments were unsuccessful by the time of publication.
BOGX is an action role-playing game (RPG) developed by Void Labs. On May 11, 2024, a Web3 investment fund announced its backing of the game, stating in a now-deleted press release that it “integrates advanced AI agents with blockchain technology.”
